Teachers' Blog Teachers' Blog

Linked with the webinars organised for the project teachers, this blog will display teachers thoughts, plans, ideas and experience with tablets in classroom. After each webinar, the teachers will write a reflective post on the given topic. Along the course of the project, this blog will provide an interesting insight into day to day teaching with tablets.

Sint-Augustinusinstituut Bree (Belgium)

Introduce your school and your role

I am a pedagogic ict-coordinator in Sint-Augustinusinstituut, a secondary school in Bree (Belgium). We have > 1 000 students and 150 teachers. It’s my task to support teachers and students with the implementation of ICT in their lessons.

I am/We are currently …

In our school we use different kind of technologies. We have 13 Smartboards. (The teachers who teach Maths and Geography only use this kind of board in their classroom (no chalk)). More than 300 dekstops/laptops are available for our students/teachers to use in their lessons. There are 33 iPads available for teachers/students to implement ICT in their lessons. We have 11 classrooms where they can use the iPads together with Apple TV.

What would you like to achieve from the CCL project?

I hope to see good examples of the implementation of ICT in lessons. ICT is a meaning and not a goal to achieve objectives.

What do you think will be your biggest challenge?

We try to give good examples and ideas to our teachers. We want to use ICT in an effective way. It’s a big challenge to inspire our schoolteam.

Identify 2 key questions at this stage that you are asking in school about the use of tablets within 1:1 learning.

  • Can you replace laptops/desktops completely with tablets?
  • Is BYOD the solution?
